It is unfortunately true that our friends often serve as our most dangerous enemies.

Being in such close proximity, so exposed to the details of our lives, it becomes easy for these allies to turn on us and strike where it hurts most.

This idea may seem like a relic of the past, akin to the themes in Shakespearian dramas or historical accounts of the Roman Empire, but in fact this concept of being betrayed by those closest to us occurs even today.
