Thousands of years ago, power was almost exclusively gained through physical violence and maintained with brute force.
There was little need for subtle manoeuvring—a king or emperor had to be ruthless.
Over time, however, as we became more civilised and far-sighted, leadership evolved significantly.
Those in positions of authority, observing the control that women of the time were capable of wielding through delicate manipulations of psychology, began developing their own versions of such manoeuvres.
