There can be no doubt that we are surrounded by more distractions than at any other time in history.

Every moment, countless sources of information and entertainment compete for our attention, deliberately designed to exploit the brain’s dopamine systems.

As a result, many of us harbour a deep fear of boredom—a fear so profound that sitting quietly with our own thoughts feels almost unbearable.

This inability to sit still and remain alone is, as the original quote states, at the root of many of the problems we experience in life.
